Marilyn Monroe: Cool Advice for Hot Times from a Hot Chick

Marilyn Marilyn was no “dumb blonde”—she wasn’t dumb and she wasn’t blonde. She was actually a bright, bold brunette.

Marilyn died in August 1962. She would be 95 if she were alive today—there is not doubt that if she had lived longer, she would be the Precious Old Dame to put the “Sexty” in “Women over Sixty!”

In these dog days of August, Marilyn’s words still bring some cool wisdom and don’t-sweat-the-small-stuff laughter into our lives. Here are my choices for…

Marilyn’s Top Ten Worthy-of-Refrigerator-Posting

  1. “To all the girls that think you’re ugly because you’re not a size 0, you’re the beautiful one. It’s society who’s ugly.”

  2. “I am not a victim of emotional conflicts. I am human.”

  3. “A smile is the best makeup any girl can wear.”

  4. “I believe everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you can appreciate them when they’re right. You believe lies so eventually you learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so that better things can fall together.”

  5. “Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world.”

  6. “Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”

  7. “I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But, if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.”

  8. “If you’re going to be two-faced, at least make one of them pretty.”

  9. “It’s better to be utterly ridiculous than to be utterly boring.”

  10. “Nothing lasts forever, so live it up, drink it down, laugh it off, avoid the drama, take chances and never have regrets, because at one point everything you did was exactly what you wanted.”

Stay safe and stay cool,

Irene
